The feature class in U.S. motorcycle road racing is the highly competitive AMA Superbike 901cc - 1000cc four-stroke motorcycles Timed qualifying is used for AMA Superbike races. For timed qualifying events, a rider’s best lap time must be within 108% of the fastest qualifying rider’s best lap time in order to pre-qualify for one of the available grid positions in the final. AMA Superbike races are normally 100 kilometers (~62 miles) in length and approximately 28 laps.
AMA SUPERSTOCK The motorcycles in the AMA Superstock (1000cc) class provide some of the closest racing action around the racetrack, reaching speeds over 190 mph! Superstock race is based on lightly modified stock, production four-stroke street bike motorcycles. The AMA Superstock Championship allows the following engine 745cc - 1000cc multi-cylinders As with AMA Superbike, timed qualifying is used in AMA Superstock. For timed qualifying events, a rider’s best lap time must be within 110% of the fastest qualifying rider’s best lap time in order to pre-qualify for one of the available grid positions in the final. The final race is normally 60 kilometers (~37 miles) in length and approximately 17 laps. |
